Prince George Citizen terminates delivery drivers
A dozen unionized union delivery drivers at the Prince George Citizen were terminated on Aug. 10, 2009.
The delivery of newspapers is now being done by a non-union company called Cobalt Waters. It has hired about half the former Citizen drivers and pays them lower rates to, in many cases, deliver their old routes.
The union has grieved this termination and filed a number of other grievances over the summer and is soliciting support from other unions in Prince George with the hope of getting the drivers rehired.
