Kelowna press manning cut grieved
Management at the Kelowna Daily Courier has announced it is going to cut manning on the presses to four per shift from five.
The union has grieved this effort and will likely fight this at arbitration later this fall.
At the same time the composing department members have agreed to continue to take one day off a week under the Employment Insurance Workshare Program.
This comes at a time when the newspapers are moving into their busiest time of the year and, already, some of the composing room employees have been called in on their days off in order to get the work done.
