Canwest creditor list long and diverse
Canwest’s debts range from $8,524,006.05 owed Twentieth Century Fox, to $3,728,822.95 owed Universal Studios Canada, to $485,803.70 owed Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, to $202,104 owed Cineplex Entertainment, to $5,350.50 owed Google, to $54.60 owed Pete’s Pest Control in Saskatoon, according to a CCAA creditor list filing, which can be found at http://cfcanada.fticonsulting.com/cmi/.
Canwest Global’s conventional television stations plus the National Post filed for bankruptcy protection last week under the Companies’ Creditors’ Arrangement Act.
Some of the more exotic debts among hundreds of creditors listed are: $177,904.13 owed the PGA Tour, $2,850 owed Saskatchewan Government Insurance, $130.34 owed Prairie Lube in Calgary, $428.04 owed Mark Steyn Enterprises (US) Inc., $35,180.25 owed Polimax Floorcoverings in Mississauga, $17,641.01 owed the Lethbridge Hurricanes junior hockey team, $1,240 owed Concordia University Webster Library, $123.90 owed Cupid’s Car Wash in Edmonton, $42,465.32 owed the Calgary Flames Foundation and $9,060 owed Adbusters Media Foundation.
Canwest also has outstanding bills with Associated Cabs in Calgary ($69.60), Beck Taxi in Toronto ($2,586.63), Black Top Cabs in Vancouver ($64.25), Bonny’s Taxi in Burnaby ($246.75), Checker Transportation Group in Calgary ($145), Maclures Cabs in Vancouver ($577.40), Newton Whalley Taxi ($48.70), North Shore Taxi ($83.90), Pontiac Taxi in Montreal ($179.25), Royal Taxi in Toronto ($3,878.50),White Rock South Surrey Taxi ($109.50) and Yellow Cab in Edmonton ($1407.33).
News media and printing companies owed money include: BBM Analytics ($108,474.92), CBC ($35,809.46), CNN Newsource Sales ($61,423.57), Kelowna Daily Courier ($151.56), Kodiak Press ($5,007.38), Metroland Media Group ($11,141.17), NBC News Channel ($101,722.75), Now Magazine ($9,450), PA Sportsticker ($5,348.36), Reuters Canada ($36,951), Rogers Media ($112,309.84), Rogers Publishing ($15,120), T.O. Night Newspaper Group ($3,150), New York Times Syndication ($16,727.50), Toronto Star $95,627.64) and Van Press ($55,877.77).
Other media-related debts are: ACTRA ($611.73), Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association ($8,627.85), Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery ($1,020.50), the Society of Composers, Authors & Music Publishers of Canada (($8,480.50), TV Guide ($47,250) and TV Ontario ($71,996.90).
Canwest also lists the United Way as creditors in Kelowna ($240), Calgary ($544.50), Toronto ($905.48), Regina ($70), Saskatoon ($24), Vancouver ($1,422.20) and Winnipeg ($2,749.14).
