Constitutional amendments pass

Local 2000 members voted yes to both constitutional amendments put before them in a referendum ballot.

Ballots were counted today and the results were as follows:

Question 1: Dues for optional members: 792 yes, 246 no.

Question 2: Local vice-Presidents to become automatic delegates to convention: 561 yes, 469 no.

The effect of passing Question 1 will be that from now on, when someone in an optional position (this exists only in the Pacific Newspaper Group contract) opts out of the union, then opts back in he/she must pay back dues for the period of being opted out in order to rejoin the union.

The effect of passing Question 2 will be that Local vice-presidents now become automatic delegates to CEP National Conventions.
